Here's
how Acura explains it's sport shift system; "The Sequential
SportShift system mimics a manual gearbox, but with built-in
safety override features. The logic will not allow a downshift
that would cause the engine to over-rev. It stays in the selected
gear until the vehicle approaches a complete stop, then shifts
into 1st automatically. While it wont upshift beyond 2nd
on its own if you accelerate in SportShift mode, it will
cut fuel flow to prevent over-revving."
