This
year 2008 and for 2008 Chevrolet Silverado comes with many engine
choices which include the following; a VORTEC 4300 V6 SFI ENGINE
200 horsepower @ 4600 rpm 260 LB ft of torque @ 2800 rpm with
standard 5 speed manual OD transmission or with an available
4 speed automatic transmission. The next Chevy Silverado choice
is the VORTEC 4800 V8 SFI ENGINE 270 horsepower @ 5200 rpm 285
LB ft of torque @ 4000 rpm with a 5 speed manual OD transmission
and an available 4 speed automatic transmission. Standard on
new 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Extended Cab Long
Box models only is a 285 horsepower @ 5200 rpm 325 LB ft of
torque @ 4000 rpm with a standard 4 speed automatic transmission.
Also available is a VORTEC 8100 V8 engine big block, it has
more torque than a V8 and V10 gas engines from Ford or Dodge.
It offers 340 horsepower @ 4200 rpm 455 lb ft of torque @ 3200
rpm. Another choice, and there are many, is the Duramax 6600
V8 engine which powers 300 horsepower @ 3100 rpm 520 LB ft of
torque @ 1800 rpm. There is an available ZF 6 speed manual transmission,
an Allison 1000 Series 5 speed automatic transmission. Allison
1000 series 5 speed auto transmission equipped Silverado 2500HD
or 3500 Big Dooley with the available Duramax Diesel or available
Vortec 8100 V8 is an upgrade.
All
2008 Chevrolet Silverado models come equipped with
standard 4 wheel antilock disc brakes designed to help you keep
in control and reducing wheel lockup. These brakes also include
Dynamic Rear Proportioning which will recognizes rear brake
lockup and applies pressure to the rear brakes. If hooking up
a trailer it's easy, an Electronic Brake Controller or EBC connector,
is located under the dash and will eliminate the need for you
to splice wires. The EBC wire harness is available and the Z82
Heavy-Duty Trailering Package includes a trailer hitch platform
and a 7 pin connector.
Automatic
dual zone climate controls are available with automatic dual
zone climate controls on new 03 and 04 Chevrolet Silverado models,
the preferred temperature can be set and maintained for the
driver and right front passenger (optional in LS, standard in
LT Silverado models). The new manual dual-zone climate control
feature lets the driver and right front passenger adjust the
level of heat and air conditioning separately and dual 12Volt
power ports located in the instrument panel, the ports can power
electronic equipment. A standard engine hour meter indicates
how long your engine has been in use, it was feature I really
appreciate especially since my truck spends a lot of time idling
