The
new 2009 Honda Insight has many features
to add the excellent gas mileage (61 in the city / 68 on the

Assist powertrain is a combination of a gasoline engine an electric
motor and a five speed manual transmission. In the area behind

the nickel metal hydride batteries and gasoline fuel tank. Honda
Insight's VTEC E system was designed to create a swirl effect
in the cylinder. This allows the air-fuel charge to burn more
cleanly for enhanced fuel efficiency and cleaner- emissions.
The
new 2009 Honda Insight Hybrid has a 1.0-liter, VTEC E
three cylinder gasoline engine with assist from the electric motor
and equipped with a five speed manual transmission which produces
73 hp @ 5700 rpm and 79 foot-pounds of torque at 1500 rpm with
up to approximately 1/3 of this torque being supplied by the electric
motor.
The 03 and
2009 Honda Insight Hybrid has an electric motor directly between
the engine and transmission and is only 2.3 inches wide. The electric
motor supplies additional power to the engine when it is needed
during, deceleration.
